Purpose of Position:

Coordinate USTA adult league programs that are played throughout the Northern California section.  This position is responsible for helping grow and maintain our Adult League tennis programs, by working administratively in-office and helping run league events in the field.  Communicate constantly with current and prospective league players, in written and verbal form. 

Major Duties: 

  • Provide excellent customer service via phone and email in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate and manage many aspects of league championship events, including site logistics, scheduling match play, coordinating staff and volunteers, manage event preparations and help order and manage award inventory.
  • Provide well written documents including league marketing ideas; writing projects
  • Help create schedules for all leagues, including deadlines as well as playoffs and championships in both Section program and Tennis Link program.
  • Manage league championship events as the on-site tournament director.
  • Work with Adult Tennis Coordinator to develop new pilot adult team programs.
  • Understand and interpret the Local League Area Rules and USTA rules in response to player inquiries.
  • Help create schedules for all leagues, including playoffs and championships in the Section program and Tennis Link program.
  • Help maintain league website content, provide support to other League Coordinators as needed using league software
  • Work proficiently in all software and database programs used in Adult Leagues including both National Tennis Link and NorCal’s league computer programs. 
  • Understand and interpret the Local League Area Rules and USTA rules in response to player inquiries.
  • Maintain NorCal league database for accuracy, including calendars, team registrations, team rosters, and player information.
  • Learn Flex League program, to back-up other Leagues Coordinator.
  • Provide support to Committee volunteers
  • Administer rating and medical appeals and help to administer grievances and appeals
  • Coordinate referee and insurance requests from captains and players
  • Work closely with Local Area League Coordinators/Volunteers, club managers, adult players and captains.
  • Coordinate grievance and appeal responses. Write/interpret local and national regulations.
  • Create reports using large databases.
  • Strong academic background; baccalaureate degree and or strong work experience.
  • Recreational tennis experience with USTA league programs and awareness of USTA League Regulations.
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High energy and enthusiasm with a desire to initiate and promote programs.
  • Experience planning events and managing programs.
  • Ability to do light lifting; loading/unloading van with merchandise such as prizes, food, drinks, etc.
  • Office and Computer skills (MS Office Suite/G-Suite).
  • Ability to work well with others and demonstrate a high level of self motivation.
  • Must be available for travel, to work weekends and extra hours, and to work at the NorCal Section office in Alameda.

As a member of the Adult League Department, this person will be knowledgeable of and able to take responsibility for any of the following duties as necessary:

Travel Demands:

  • Attend select Committee meetings, as needed.
  • Attend Local and National Staff Trainings and meetings as directed by supervisor.
  • Attend/supervise District and Sectional Championships
